PROCEDURE

  1. Make sure the work can be done safely.

  2. Make sure the vehicle is on a flat surface.

  3. Go under the vehicle and make sure that the chassis, the side rails, and the crossmembers are not damaged, twisted, or rusted (Figure 2).

  1. Make sure that the fasteners of the front suspension are tightened as per the torque specifications on Figure 3.

  1. If the vehicle has leaf-spring rear suspension, verify the torque of the fasteners, as per Figure 4.

  1. If the vehicle has rear air suspension, verify the torque of the fasteners, as per Figure 5.

  1. Make sure all the accessible fasteners holding the four (4) remaining crossmembers to the side rails are tightened to 68 ft-lb (92 Nm).
