03-12 Chassis frame verification
PROCEDURE
Make sure the work can be done safely.
Make sure the vehicle is on a flat surface.
Go under the vehicle and make sure that the chassis, the side rails, and the crossmembers are not damaged, twisted, or rusted (Figure 2).
- Make sure that the fasteners of the front suspension are tightened as per the torque specifications on Figure 3.
- If the vehicle has leaf-spring rear suspension, verify the torque of the fasteners, as per Figure 4.
- If the vehicle has rear air suspension, verify the torque of the fasteners, as per Figure 5.
- Make sure all the accessible fasteners holding the four (4) remaining crossmembers to the side rails are tightened to 68 ft-lb (92 Nm).
