# 12-99 Brake Interlock Functional Test

Begin this step when parking brake is applied, and the warning light is on.

• Turn the start switch to “ON” position.

• Open the Wheelchair Lift (WCL) door, then depress the brake pedal and try to release the parking brake. The parking brake shouldn’t release.

• Close the WCL door, then try to release the parking brake without depressing the brake pedal. You shouldn’t be able to release it.

• Depress the brake pedal and release the parking brake. You should be able to release it.

• Apply the parking brake again. The interlock should engage immediately to prevent unintentional release.

Put the drive selector in “N” and release the parking brake.

• Open the WCL door and try to operate it. It shouldn’t work.

• Activate the WCL dash switch and try to operate it. It shouldn’t work.

• Apply the parking brake and try to operate it. It should work.

Release the parking brake and put the drive selector in “D” while keeping the brake pedal depressed.

• Ask a second person to open the WCL door. You should be able to select “N”.

• Shift into “N”. You shouldn’t be able to shift to “D” or “R” while the WCL door is open.

• Ask a second person to close the WCL door. Now you should be able to select again “D” or “R”.
